Which is weird considering that the name in my ID says my name is Kath.

I do not remember any one of my age bracket calling me Diane. I remember my elementary teachers and my college teachers calling me Diane. If you call me Diane we can only get close to a certain degree, either because you are an authority figure or there are affectations between us.

I still get a little confused every time you call me Diane, and there is a part of me which holds back. Because only old people call me Diane. Authority figures and such.
